Multi-Stakeholder Engagement

A multi-stakeholder process is critical to build trust among all sectors: environmental, social, corporate, and regulatory.

Principles and Criteria need to be clear and robust enough to provide international compatibility and inter-operability. This is essential for multi-national company participation and international trade.

Principles and Criteria need to be sufficiently flexible to operate equally well in for regional catchments authorities, water boards, water utility companies, primary producers, light and heavy industry, infrastructure and event managers.

Standards will need to be defined with input from water owners and users, ecologists, economists, hydrologists, ecological and social interest groups, and landowners.

No one sector, regulatory approach or agenda can be allowed to dominate the process - collaboration is essential for everyone to win.
